The Canadian TechSelect community recently gathered in Halifax, Nova Scotia for three action-packed days of business development, information-sharing and peer relationship-building.  With over 50 attendees from more than 40 member organizations, it was a great opportunity to learn from others while sharing our own best practices and problem-solving ideas. Best of all, the ability to interact with similar-minded business leaders helped to encourage on-going dialogue and relationships that will span the months until the next conference in Las Vegas this November.

May 11, 2010: As announced, Microsoft has released their May 2010 Security Bulletins. A total of 2 bulletins addressing 2 vulnerabilities have been released. Affected components include Microsoft Visual Basic, Windows Mail and Outlook Express . One of the bulletins is rated 'Critical' while the second is rated as 'Important'. Both of the vulnerabilities also carry a potential impact of remote code execution. Learn more.

McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator-McAfee Virtual Technician (ePO-MVT) Version 1.0.4.0 is Now Available:
ePO-MVT 1.0 takes security management to a new level. McAfee is making products more "supportable" by adding automated product issue diagnosis and resolution capabilities right into the software. McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator gives customers end-to-end visibility and control to centrally manage enterprise security solutions. With the addition of MVT, ePO can now diagnose and selectively resolve many McAfee software issues across all nodes, deliver reports to the ePO administrator, and send the results to McAfee for rapid support as needed.
What is ePO-MVT?
- ePO Managed McAfee Virtual Technician (MVT)
- MVT is deployable on multiple nodes via ePO deployment task
- Scheduled Enterprise product health check and remediation
- Health check and remediation reports to the ePO server
- Automated content update using CommonUpdater infrastructure
- Upload of results to McAfee MVT database optional to the ePO administrator
- Support has immediate access to MVT results once uploaded

What’s new in this release?
There was a recently discovered random issue associated with the ePO-MVT product identification in the ePO Master Repository. The issue has been corrected in the current release.
- New ePO-MVT users are not affected by this issue and no further action is necessary.
- Existing ePO-MVT users need to remove and replace the old ePO-MVT ClientContentUpgrade Package from their Master Repository with the new version included in this release. Removal of ePO-MVT from the managed end nodes is not required.
The effects of not removing the old content package are:
1. Error log in the Orion log file during any future content package check-in.
2. Both old and new content packages would exist in the ePO repository as the old one is not being replaced, even though all product functionality works. Click for more information.

ISA and McAfee Hit the Ice for Hockey 2010

ISA and McAfee held their 2nd Annual Customer Appreciation Hockey Tournament and Cocktails on February 18, at Canlan Ice Sports York. It was a close battle between teams blue and white, and not just with the challenge of Olympic-sized ice this year, but in the end, the White team prevailed with a final score of 5-3.
